Our panel will be comprised of a group of specialized individuals that will speak about Mental Health & Wellness.
The moderator for this event will be Dr. Kate Steiner. Kate is a mental health counselor, consultant, speaker, author, and CEO of LIFT Wellness Consulting. She supports professionals in overcoming burnout through a proven reflection and developmental process. Holding A Master’s of Counseling and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, her practice is grounded in the research-based Steiner Self-Reflective Sustainability and Wellness (SSRSW) model, published in the Journal of Sorority and Fraternity Life Research and Practice. As a lifetime researcher in wellness and burnout, Dr. Steiner is the author of "Feeling Crispy? A Guide to Burnout Recovery" and was the host of the Feeling Crispy? From Burnout to Recovery Podcast. Her mission is to end the burnout cycle for professionals so they are living happier, healthier lives.
The panelist are as follows:
Neely R. Conner- a consultant, counselor, coach, and Director of Carilion Employee Assistance Program. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, she is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Employee Assistance Professional and Professional Certified Coach. Neely has been in the mental health field for 30 years and in Employee Assistance for 20 years, working closely with leaders of business and industry to successfully manage the human aspect of the workplace.
Katie Stafford is a board-certified nurse coach, certified consulting hypnotist, and HeartMath certified practitioner with over 15 years of experience as a registered nurse. She specializes in supporting individuals who are navigating life transitions, stress, burnout, and the challenges of modern life. By blending evidence-based tools with holistic practices, Katie helps her clients build emotional resilience, regulate their nervous systems, and reconnect with a deeper sense of peace and purpose. Known for her calm presence and integrative approach, Katie works with clients both virtually and in person, guiding them toward sustainable well-being and personal growth.
David Andrews- Dave is the Associate Director of Employee Wellness, a part of Hokie Wellness and Human Resources at Virginia Tech. He has experience working in community-based mental health, on various public health initiatives, and in wellness promotion on university campuses with students and employees. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Warren Wilson College in sociology and anthropology and a Master of Public Health with a concentration in health behavior and health education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dave is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and is working towards a certification as Corporate Wellness Specialist.
