Hope To Walk

A SOLUTION TO THE PROSTHETIC NEED THAT PLAGUES THE WORLD’S POOR

Hope to Walk Receives Top International Award
from .ORG Impact Award

Blacksburg-based nonprofit is one of 7 organizations selected
among 4,232 applicants from 145 countries.

Blacksburg — On October 6, 2026, Public Interest Registry (PIR), the organization that owns the .ORG domain, named Hope To Walk the top finalist in the 2026 .ORG Impact Awards Health and Healing category. The prestigious global awards program recognizes and rewards outstanding mission-driven organizations from around the world for their positive contributions to society. In August, Hope To Walk was named a Top 5 Finalist in their category. This latest award puts them in the top 7 from 4,232 applicants across 145 countries.
Hope To Walk was selected for their work in bringing low cost prosthetic legs to amputees in developing countries who otherwise could never afford a prosthetic leg. The prosthetic legs give amputees the gift of walking and HOPE for a life of dignity and independence. The amputee can then work and care for their family, instead of being cared for by their family!
All winners were announced at an in-person awards ceremony on October 6th at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. Representatives from finalists around the world attended the celebration. In addition to this international recognition, Hope To Walk receives a donation of $10,000 from PIR.
Receiving this international recognition could never have happened without the tremendous support of the multitude of volunteers and donors engaged in the Hope To Walk mission. More information can be found at its website, https://hopetowalk.org/ .
