Thanksgiving Food Drive / Volunteer event
As Thanksgiving approaches, the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program (MCEAP) to help provide more than 300 Thanksgiving meals to local families, seniors, unemployed individuals, and others facing financial hardships.
For more than 50 years, MCEAP has been a valuable resource in our community, providing emergency financial assistance, food, clothing, and other necessities to individuals and families in need.
We are asking our Chamber Members to join us in making Thanksgiving a little brighter for our neighbors.
There are three ways your business can help:
1. Donate Food Items
MCEAP is collecting food donations for distribution on Monday, November 23. Items needed include:
-
Vegetables: Sweet Potatoes, White Potatoes, Carrots, Green Beans, Corn, and Mixed Vegetables
-
Thanksgiving Essentials: Stuffing Mix, Cranberry Sauce, Dinner Rolls, Butter, Evaporated Milk, Gravy, and Cooking Broth
-
Holiday Desserts: Pumpkin Pies, Apple Pies, Cake Mixes, Brownie Mixes, Cookie Mixes, and Other Holiday Desserts
The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce will serve as a drop-off location for donations.
Chamber Office:
210 Laurel Street NE, Suite B
Christiansburg, VA 24073
Encourage your employees to participate, organize a collection at your business, or simply drop off a few items. Every donation makes a difference!
2. Volunteer to Pack Thanksgiving Meal Boxes – Friday, November 20
In addition to collecting food, we are asking Chamber Members to volunteer their time to help pack Thanksgiving meal boxes on Friday, November 20, in preparation for distribution to families in need.
This is a great opportunity for businesses to get their employees involved in giving back to our community.
If you can volunteer to help pack boxes on November 20, please register using the link below:
Additional information regarding volunteer times and location will be shared with those who sign up.
3. Make a Monetary Donation
If your business is unable to collect food or volunteer, monetary contributions to MCEAP are another meaningful way to support this effort. No donation is too small, and every dollar helps MCEAP continue serving individuals and families throughout Montgomery County.
Our Chamber Members consistently demonstrate that a strong business community is also a caring community. Whether you donate food, volunteer your time, or make a financial contribution, your support will help ensure that more of our neighbors can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.
Together, we can make a meaningful difference this holiday season.
Thank you for your continued support of Montgomery County and the New River Valley!
