New River Stage Presents BINGO the WINNING Musical
Blacksburg, VA, July 3, 2017 – New River Stage is excited to be returning to the stage this summer with BINGO the WINNING Musical! Bingo is a splashy, warm hearted, musical comedy about a group of die-hard bingo players who stop at nothing to miss their weekly game. In between the number calling, strange rituals and fierce competitions, love blossoms and friends reunite. Best friends and Bingo pals Vern, Honey and Patsy brave a terrible storm in order to attend the yearly celebration of the birth of Bingo and tribute to its founder, Edwin S. Lowe. As the storm knocks out power at the Bingo Hall, Patsy and Honey remind each other of the ominous night fifteen years ago that began in the exact same way when Vern and her best friend, Bernice, had a falling out. Bernice's sweet, yet headstrong daughter, Alison, enters the Bingo hall in disguise and is determined, with the help of Bingo, to reunite her mother with her long-lost best friend. The warm hearted, witty musical comedy is written and composed by Michael Heitzman, Ilene Reid and David Holcenberg. This colorful show finds its heart, soul, and sense of humor in the game bingo, common to every church auditorium, high school cafeteria, and social hall across America. Directed by Harmony Tripp-Kiser, the talented cast includes Debbie Kleiner, Stephanie Clements, AJ Moose, Morgan Lazo, Jeremiah Sarver-Wolf, Thomas Lazo, Stephanie Watson, Liza Roop, and Amy Howell. Audiences will be laughing in the aisles when they aren’t playing games of bingo along with the cast. "Popcorn, friendship, intrigue and the famous five-letter word. B-I-N-G-O turns Grandma's favorite form of gambling into fun-loving musical theater." - The New York Times
