Author Hawk Mackinney to Appear at the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library

The public is invited to hear author Hawk Mackinney talk about his book Moccasin Trace, set in Georgia during the restless times leading to the Civil War in America. It is July of 1859; life is good for widower Rundell Ingram and his son Hamilton. Between the two of them, they take care of Moccasin Hollow, their rustic ancestral home, a sprawling non-slave plantation in the farm country outside Queensborough Towne in east Georgia. Adjoining Ingram lands is Wisteria Bend, the vast slave-holding plantation of Andrew and Corinthia Greer, their daughter Sarah, and son Benjamin. In the south of 1860, Hamilton and Sarah thought that only pleasant times lay ahead of them, but a blood tide of war is sweeping across the South, a tide that might be impossible to stand before. One of the most engaging and brilliantly crafted historical works since Margaret Mitchell's great classic writes Barbara Casey Author, The Coach's Wife.

Hawk Mackinney was raised in the coal mining Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. He began writing serial mysteries for his school newspaper. His other novels include Poison at the Pinnacle and White Sodom.
