Meet Lauren Durbin: Your New Marketing and Communications Intern
Hello everyone! I’m Lauren Durbin, and I’m excited to introduce myself as the new Marketing and Communications Intern for the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. I look forward to this journey and can’t wait to connect with all of you in Montgomery County!
My Educational Journey
I’m currently studying Marketing Management with a minor in Strategic Communications at Virginia Tech. My coursework has included classes like Marketing Management, Consumer Behavior, and Integrated Marketing Communications, providing me with a solid foundation in the field. Through hands-on projects with real clients, I’ve been able to apply theoretical concepts to practical situations. I’m also a member of Collegiate Women in Business, where I’ve developed networking and strategic thinking skills while collaborating with peers on various initiatives.
My Journey into Marketing
Growing up in Winchester, VA, I was part of a close-knit community that shaped my values. My passion for marketing ignited in high school when I took a Fashion Marketing class and a Sports and Entertainment Marketing class. These experiences allowed me to explore branding and consumer behavior through creative, hands-on projects. At Millbrook High School, I played on the tennis team, which taught me teamwork, and I was involved in clubs like the National Honor Society (NHS), Key Club, Leo Club, and DECA. Volunteering in local events helped me connect with my community and understand the importance of giving back. Winchester will always hold a special place in my heart.
Looking Ahead
As I look ahead, I’m eager to deepen my experience in Marketing and Communications. My main goal is to gain hands-on skills in areas like digital marketing and brand management while working for a reputable company that aligns with my values. I’m passionate about using creativity to tackle real-world challenges and hope to take on leadership roles in the future where I can mentor others and drive impactful marketing campaigns. I believe effective marketing can make a positive difference, and I’m excited to contribute to a company that prioritizes community and innovation.
Thank you for welcoming me to the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. I can’t wait to get started!
