Come and join Claytor Lake State Park for their Celebration of Summer on Saturday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the park.
There will be something for everyone throughout the day at Claytor Lake State Park.
Everett Lee Yearout, Jr. Adult/Youth Fishing Tournament and Essay Contest starts at 7 a.m.
The Hensel Eckman YMCA in Pulaski will sponsor its first "Family Fun Run" event at Claytor Lake State Park. The event includes a family and kid-friendly one-mile "fun run," at 8:30 a.m. and a competitive 5k run at 9 a.m. and 5k walk at 9:10 a.m.
Racers will run along the trails of the state park for the one-mile run, the 5k run, and the 5k walk.
The first 100 pre-registered entrants will receive a race T-shirt. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Hensel Eckman YMCA’s financial assistance program. For more information about the run please contact the YMCA at 540-980-3671.
Something new added to the Summer Festival is The Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre of Wytheville will present the drama “The King and I.”
Mike Jarrell and other local Native Americans will perform music, storytelling, dance and more.
Food, arts and crafts, and other local vendors will be set up on site throughout the day, and enjoy a wine tasting as well.
The Annual Car Show with remote control planes and cars performing tricks and stunts will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and an antique Fire Truck Drive by the Old Dominion Historical Society will start at 1 p.m.
Local musicians will be playing throughout the day around the beach area including the Billy Crawford Band, The Rock’n Cruisers, Southern Nights, and Glen Shelton.
Take in the fireworks at night, which are provided by Grucci.
The festival is being coordinated by Claytor Lake State Park, Fine Arts Center for the NRV, Claytor Lake Festival Committee, and the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce.
