SUMMARY:MC 2023 June Eggs & Issues Business and Higher Education: Learning. Connecting. Leading
DESCRIPTION:* 8:00 a.m. Check-in and breakfast \n\n* 8:30 a.m. Program promptly begins\n\n* 9:30 a.m. Program ends \n\n\n\nJoin your Chamber for a panel discussion on Business and Higher Education: Learning. Connecting. Leading\n\n\n\nBusiness and Higher Education are facing many challenges. Working together to solve these issues is even more critical than ever. The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce will bring together Virginia Tech\, Radford University\, and New River Community College to share how they work to bring relevancy to their classrooms\, skill undergraduates for the workplace\, and provide other forms of "teaching and learning" to students through internships\, or co-op programs in business. We will learn from each institution about their uniqueness and similarities. For example\, are there federal programs to help our communities recruit like the big guys such as Amazon or Google? We will also learn more about recruiting graduates from these three higher education institutions. Could our Chamber host a giant job fair to recruit students in February before graduation in May? How can we be seen as a great place to work by graduates? How can businesses engage in advisory boards for colleges? So much to learn in June at Eggs & Issues\; join us.\n\n\n\nThank you to our panelist:\n\n\n\nAngela Joyner Vice President Economic Development and Corporate Education\, Radford University \n\nDr. Deborah Kennedy\, Dean of Student Services\, New River Community College \n\nDr. Gaylon "Don" Taylor\, Executive Vice Provost and the Charles O. Gordon Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech\n\n\n\nThank you to our Moderator Sharon G. Scott\, Ph.D.\, President Fully-Engaged \n\n\n\nA special thank you to our sponsor\, Edson Aesthetics for investing in this program. \n\n\n\nAdmission: $30 Chamber Members $40 Non-Members \n\n\n\nSpace in limited and reservations are required by no later than Tuesday\, May 30th at noon. \n\n\n\nRegister and pay online or contact programs@montgomerycc.org\n\n \n\nWarm Hearth Village\n\n2387 Warm Hearth Dr. Blacksburg\, VA 24060
