DESCRIPTION:Forty years ago\, the Virginia Tech Gay Student Alliance held the first Gay Awareness Week to promote awareness of the gay and lesbian community. A high point was Denim Day\, when all were invited to show their support of gay rights by wearing denim. Only a handful of people wore denim and more than 25\,000 letters of dissent were sent to the university. #VTDenimDayDoOver.
